TCEQ Now Accepting Applications for the 2019 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards

The Texas Environmental Excellence Awards honor achievements in environmental preservation and protection. As the state’s highest environmental honor, the Office of the Governor and commissioners from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality recognize outstanding projects from ten diverse categories: Agriculture, Civic/Community, Education, Environmental Educator of the Year, Individual, Innovative Operations/Management, Pollution Prevention, Technical/Technology, Water Conservation, and Youth.

The newest category, Environmental Educator of the Year, is sponsored by Waste Management of Texas, Inc., and they will provide the winning educator’s school/organization with a $2,500 cash donation. To apply for this category, complete the online application or the application in Word. To help you complete this application, please see its application instructions.

If you would like to apply for one of the other categories, complete its online application or the application in Word. There are also application instructions for it, and examples of winning applications (one for each category). If you would like an example, send an email to awards@tceq.texas.gov and include the award category you’re interested in. The last day you can apply is September 28, 2018.

A banquet will be held for the winners on May 15, 2019 which will feature videos of their environmental projects. You can view the 2018 winner’s videos online and see pictures from their banquet on Facebook.
