The Association of Rural Communities in Texas currently has over 300 members of rural cities, counties, economic development corporations, utility districts and now Chambers of Commerce. Since 2001, ARCIT has been an education and networking arm for rural communities working with the Texas Legislature and State Agencies regarding rural policies and programs. The ARCIT Board encourages you to get involved today in order to help strengthen Rural Texas.
Member Types:
• Voting Members
Texas Cities 50,000 population and under
Texas Counties 200,000 population and under
Economic Development Corporations in qualifying cities and counties
Utility Districts in qualifying cities and counties
Chambers of Commerce in qualifying cities and counties(effective December, 2007)
• Non-Voting Members
Associate Members -- Non-profit associations
Sponsors – Rural stakeholders that serve Rural Communities such as engineers, architects, lawyers, consultants
Why Should You Join?
ARCIT is a growing organization and is always looking to improve and strengthen our membership input, networking and services. We need your input!
• Serve on Advisory Committees to work with state policy/program staff regarding statewide rural policies and programs
• Participate in Regional Meetings to network, meet state agency staff, and advise ARCIT staff regarding rural policies/programs
• Receive ARCIT’s e-newsletter and keep up on the most recent rural policies/program changes, challenges and ARCIT’s priorities
• Access ARCIT’s Membership Directory of over 300 members to network with your colleagues
• During the Texas Legislative Session, receive weekly email updates regarding proposed legislation affecting Rural Texas and how you can help
• Travel to Austin for the Annual Meeting to increase your professional network, gain insight from relevant seminars and visit the Texas Legislature to share your local input regarding statewide rural policies and programs
